The Department of Teaching + Learning in Art + Design @ RISD stands together with the groundskeepers, movers, and custodial staff in their current strike for a living wage. We acknowledge that their work keeps the institution running and allows all of us to make, think, and teach in safe and productive spaces. As an institution that has aligned itself with issues of justice and equity, RISD must find a way to provide these workers with, at minimum, a living wage so that they can support themselves, their families, and thrive.
