The Interior Architecture Department stands with the custodial staff, groundskeepers, and movers in their demand for fair living wages. We stand with our RISD workers, with Agueda, Bill, and Dave, in recognition of their irreplaceable profession and human value that enriches our daily lives in CIT. Despite our efforts to understand the complexity of the negotiation and the rationale of all parties involved, we hope that unethical strategies have not been used to weaken our workers. We stand with them, we hear their fears and their hopes; their strength and dedication to equity may one day heal this country. We urgently ask our President, Board of Trustees, Administration and all involved in this negotiation to listen to the demands, hopes, and personal stories of 62 human beings and then find space for reconciliation and recognition. Only after that can we start talking about equity.
